“The Mile” the author tells us about his life when he was in middle school and the accomplishments he achieved. He was the chubby kid sitting alone in the cafeteria, with low grades, and low self esteem. He had low self confidence about his body appearance, he was ashamed to swim and was second to last during the mile run in physical Ed class, but one day the slowest kid changed schools. That day he was scared to go to physical Ed class because he now he was going to be last. he had thoughts to skip class, but decided to stay and run. Unfortunately he finished last. That day he made a commitment to change his life around. He begin running alone and in class he began to see improvement. He started running three miles with his mom and completed a couple of challenges and half marathon. He lost a lot of weight and improved his academics as will. He believes in solving problems for teens who need them.
This is a great moral lesson for teens and everyone who has low self esteem about anything and more commonly their physical appearance. There are many problems like that but I know that making the right decision can always amidst any problem. The author’s choice was the giant step towards his great success to living a good healthy life style that solved his problem that was Beneficial for him.
