Working Mothers are Benefiting the Family

  Summary
In "Working Mothers Are Benefiting the Family" by Supreet Mann, Mann claims that mothers should be working and that's going to benefit the family by bringing extra income to the house. For example, Mann has  experienced  that Mothers should be working because that's a mothers choice.

Response
I disagree with Supreet Mann, I think that mothers should be at home taking care of their children. This is important because I have seen teens that both of his parents work and that left him alone without any  parent looking after him. As a result those teens end up doing things that they shouldn't be doing and end up doing back in school.

Why We Crave Horror Movies--by Stephen King

Summery
In “Why We Crave Horror Movies” Stephen king claims that we are all mentally ill and that there's gators on our mind that crave sick things that we can't do in real life, but turn to horror movies to feed our gators and nasty fantasies.
Response
I agree with Stephen King’s claim because I have gators on my mind and I turn to action movies to feed the gators. For example I sometime think of dangerous stunts that I only see Jackie Chan do only on movies.

Small Change by Malcolm Gladwell

In the reading Small Change, Why the Revolution Will Not Be Tweeted,” Malcolm Gladwell discusses the brave act of four college students and their act of social activism. Four freshmen from a nearby black college sat down at a lunch counter near Greensboro, North Carolina and were denied service because of their race. The four students refused to leave and eventually moved outside the restaurant and started a protest. The story of the students and their protest quickly spread and people from different states started to join the four boys in a sit-in. The story of the four students was done without the use of any social network. Gladwell discussed the strength of this sit-in because of the relationship between the students. Another issue discussed by Gladwell was the communication style in Iran. There was a protest against the communist government and the knowledge of this was later received through the social network Twitter. The Idea Gladwell explained, was that in order to get something by such a statement or the revolution in Iran, than you need a relationship and the same goal with the people you are connecting with.
I agree with Gladwell and his ideals of social networking. I believe that social networks are a great way to find others that you have a lot in common with. Social networks are a way to interact with others and explore the web to find people with same interests. However, I do believe when people can interact one-on-one with someone they have a lot in common with, the connection is much stronger than any network site

The Mile

The Mile

“The Mile” the author tells us about his life when he was in middle school and the accomplishments he achieved. He was the chubby kid sitting alone in the cafeteria, with low grades, and low self esteem. He had low self confidence about his body appearance, he was ashamed to swim and was second to last during the mile run in physical Ed class, but one day the slowest kid changed schools. That day he was scared to go to physical Ed class because he now he was going to be last. he had thoughts to skip class, but decided to stay and run. Unfortunately he finished last. That day he made a commitment to change his life around. He begin running alone and in class he began to see improvement. He started running three miles with his mom and completed a couple of challenges and half marathon. He lost a lot of weight and improved his academics as will. He believes in solving problems for teens who need them.

This is a great moral lesson for teens and everyone who has low self esteem about anything and more commonly their physical appearance. There are many problems like that but I know that making the right decision can always amidst any problem. The author’s choice was the giant step towards his great success to living a good healthy life style that solved his problem that was Beneficial for him.

Untold Stories of Kindness

Summary

In “Untold Stories of Kindness” Sgt. Haibi found his true belief while serving in Iraq
as an army medic. The experience in Iraq showed him the truth from both soldiers and civilians. He
saw acts of kindness from both sides as will as acts of violence from them too. As a medic he helped supply clinics , school, relief centers, and hospitals as will as Iraqis helping by as much as giving tea and smiling at them. He witnessed insurgents detonated car bombs around the city that left many people dead and ravaged. It wasn't Iraqi guardsmen nor american troops that got hurt but it was innocent civilians that took the consequence and their blood shed all over the place. Many people say that Sgt. Haibi  is off and lost, but to him it's the people who fail to realize that by uniting they can stand against soldier and insurgents and believes that by accepting one another that we the people can transform war into peace.

Response

I believing people like Sgt. Haibi, who still has hope for humanity after witnessing mass distraction by them all towards each other. I also agree with the point he made about the innocent who are the victims of wars and the once left hurt and the once who rebuild what was destroyed by solider, insurgents, and politicians. We should realize that we can prevent any of that and conquer any corruption by unit before it happens.
